Outback Cleanups Australia

Outback Cleanups Australia is a small team with a giant impact. Founded by Boe Langford, OCA travels Australia’s remote beaches, bush, and marine zones pulling rubbish from places most of us only ever reach once. What started in 2019 has grown into a charity effort that’s taken tens of thousands of kilograms of waste out of fragile environments.

By 2022 they’d already cleared more than 60 tonnes, including 20 tonnes that year alone, and the numbers keep climbing as they log, sort, and recycle what they can. Their work shines a light on ghost nets, plastics, and bottle storms that hammer remote coastlines, especially in Far North Queensland.

The method is simple but relentless: reach hard places, clean them properly, record the data, and share the story so more people care. From Cape York’s long beaches to tucked-away bays where debris stacks up over years, OCA shows what real, boots-on-ground care for country looks like.

When the mission is this physical, camp needs to be quick, tough, and safe in rough weather. That’s why a freestanding awning is part of the kit – shade for sorting, cover for tools and volunteers, and a dry place to plan the next stretch.

Runs: D180 Freestanding 180 awning – dependable cover that stands up to harsh, remote clean-up conditions.
